Field Curriculum & Graduate Student Stipends

 

The UCLA Center on Child Welfare and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) provides one-year IUC stipends ($18,500) and specialized training for a maximum of sixteen Master's of Social Welfare students enrolled in the UCLA Department of Social Welfare graduate program each year. Students are placed in one of two innovative off-campus MSW student field units with a full-time DCFS Field Instructor and an on-site UCLA Field Education Consultant.

Public Child Welfare Graduate Courses

 

UCLA offers graduate coursework to prepare students in the organized units for a career in public child welfare. MSW interns attend the DCFS intern trainings, followed by theCSW Core Academy after graduation.  In combination with the field placement, the following coursework and training assures interns the opportunity to integrate theory, knowledge, and practice:
