BUS STOP LOCATIONS

Transit Amenities
There are three major arterials that intersect Pico Boulevard: Normandie Avenue, Vermont Avenue and Alvarado Street.  Each street serves high volumes of daily vehicle traffic as well as some of the most crowded bus lines in the city.  Sidewalks are wide enough to provide for good pedestrian activity.  Long distances between traffic signals create problems for street crossing.Between Normandie Avenue and Alvarado Street, Pico Boulevard has 16 bus stops - eight in each direction.  Of these 16 bus stops, only one has a shelter (the bus stop at the southeast corner of Pico and Normandie).  Twelve bus stops have benches, but only six have some sort of tree shading.  Six stops provide trash receptacles.  Dense foliage restricts sidewalk lighting.  Current sidewalk conditions are poor.  Streets are in need of repaving or resurfacing.  Parking is metered for one hour in most areas and is not perceived to be sufficient.
