Community 2020 Tutorial

*Students who are not using TransCAD for their final project are required to complete this assignment.*
(TransCAD-ers should use this time to specialize on the TransCAD routing/modeling functions of interest to you.)

Results should be posted to your web page by Friday, May 28th.

These exercises are intended to introduce you to displaying and manipulating housing and community development data using an interface very similar to TransCAD. Community 2020 does a great job of displaying HUD data. If you plan to use Community 2020 for your final project, though, you should consider which GIS analytical methods you can use to analyze this data.

The Community 2020 Program and data has been loaded on computers on one side of the lab (the right side as you face the front of the lab). You can download the tutorial instructions from the HUD web page (follow the Community 2020 Software Training Manual Version 2.0 link). Notice that the HUD page also provides data updates and technical notes. In particular, there is a link for data on Los Angeles under the section for Tutorial chapter 3.
